Sober Identity Book Review

Omar S. Manejwala, M.D. , author of The Craving Book

“[Lisa’s book] Stimulating and engaging…a fresh perspective on the sort of changes that drive sobriety. Neumann begins with the premise that hope is what fundamentally drives change, then spells out a path to recovery in five major sections: observation, process, essentials, competencies and partnership. A theme throughout the book is a dialogue between her lower self and higher self. The dialogues were an interesting way of making the topics accessible and real. Her emphasis on an honest observation, recovery as a “structured and creative journey,” the competencies that need to be developed for lifelong recovery, and the notion of partnering with the universe (I’m grossly oversimplifying here) are on target. In particular, I found the five competencies to be compelling…they struck me as essential to sobriety. As an addiction psychiatrist, former medical director of one of the nations leading addiction rehabs and an author myself, I can honestly say that Neumann has added something very valuable to the field. I think if you are looking for a different perspective on the process of recovery, it’s a great read.”

Sober Identity Book Review

Nick Ortner, Executive Producer, The Tapping Solution

“Wow … what a powerful, deep, and transformative book. Sober Identity explores addictions in a way I’ve never seen before. Full of not only analysis and understanding of what’s really happening, but perhaps most importantly, SOLUTIONS! This is an important book.”

Sober Identity Book Review

“Enlightening, stimulating, thought-provoking and to the point. A must read for those desiring long-term sobriety. An absolute MUST READ for the chronic relapser.”

Sober Identity Book Review

By Alberta Sequeira

Author or two memoirs

“I lost my daughter, Lori, to her alcohol abuse after losing my husband, Richard, from the same addiction. My first thought, only a quarter of the way into the book, was “If only Lori could have read this book.”It’s written by a recovered alcoholic and who else would know the pain, confusion, self-doubt, fear and sickness in mind and body as another alcoholic. Who else would know what to offer to strengthen their hope and goal to recover from this disease.I commend Lisa Neumann for writing one of the best books for the alcoholic. I would also say it’s an educational book for families to learn what the alcoholic needs for support and encouragement.I wrote two memoirs Someone Stop This Merry-Go-Round; An Alcoholic Family in Crisis and it’s sequel. Please, God, Not Two: This Killer Called Alcoholism about our family struggle, but Lisa’s book Sober Identity goes into the mind of an alcoholic. I highly recommend this book.”

Coaching Review

Karen Perry, Mended Musings.com

I did online coaching with Lisa and I can’t say enough positive things about her. I had never done online coaching before and I wasn’t sure what to expect. The process was very straightforward and I recommend it to anyone who communicates their thoughts well through writing. Lisa has a warm and engaging communication style and it’s obvious that she truly cares about her clients on a personal level. It’s not easy to walk with someone through their process of self-discovery and Lisa has a gift for knowing how hard to push and how to lead gently. As with any type of therapy or coaching, you only get as much out of it as you put into it. Lisa gave me constant encouragement that I was on the right track and doing the work necessary to reach my personal goals.  Whether you’re struggling with sobriety or have been sober for some time, the concepts Lisa teaches are necessary for a strong foundation in recovery. I will definitely work with her again as part of my recovery maintenance.
